Hello, my name is Johan Koen.
I am from South Africa. Japan has been my home for nearly a year. It has been an incredible experience filled with new people. During this time, I started learning Japanese and am trying to integrate myself into this beautiful country.

I came to Japan to earn my PhD in Ethics from Chiba University. To do this I have been researching moral ideas from both Ancient Europe and Asia and modern perspectives. My professors have helped me progress and improve the quality of my research.

My hobbies include reading, writing, and playing video games. Since coming to Japan, I’ve also taken an interest in travelling. The long history and culture of Japan have had an indelible impact on the land and its people. Discovering all its intricacies is a dream of mine.
