Ken: What is famous in your hometown?
ケン:「地元名物って何かある？」

Yoko: As for souvenirs, regional sweets only sold in specific areas are often pleased by lots of people.
The other day, I bought takoyaki-flavored Jagariko only sold in Osaka for my colleagues.
They seemed to like it very much.
ヨウコ:「お土産だと、地域限定のお菓子とか喜ばれたりするわよね。
私はこの間職場に大阪限定のじゃがりこ「たこ焼き味」を買って帰ったらとっても好評だったわよ。」

Misa: Sounds nice! I collect local Kitty-chan, so I was really happy when I got a takoyaki Kitty-chan as a souvenir.
It was from Osaka. I was glad to know that people remembered that I had been collecting Kitty-chan.
Perhaps, I say it too much that it's difficult for them not to remember.
ミサ:「地域限定良いですね！私ご当地キティちゃん集めてるんですけど、大阪限定のたこ焼きキティちゃんをもらった時は嬉しかったなー。
集めているのを覚えていてくれたんだ！って嬉しくなっちゃいます＾＾　あ、でも私がいつもアピールしすぎなのかも。。」

Ken: I see. It is difficult to choose the right gift for each person and occasion.
This is not about souvenirs from trips. But when I went back to my hometown Kobe from Tokyo, I bought some sweets as a gift, but I later found out that those were originally from Kobe.
Because various sweet shops from all over Japan gather in Tokyo, it is important to check where its' head office is when we buy sweets in Depachika.
My mom laughed and told me "You could've bought this in the neighborhood, but you brought this all the way from Tokyo."
ケン:「そうだよねー、受け取る人が喜ぶものを選ぶのが難しいんだよね、贈り物って。
お土産ではないんだけど、この間 東京から神戸の地元に手土産を。と思ってお菓子を買って帰ったら、そのお菓子屋さんの本店が神戸だった。っていう失敗があるよ。。
東京って全国からお店が集まっているから、デパ地下で買い物する時とかは、そのお菓子屋さんの本店がどこか。って確認しておくのも大事だね。
『これ近所で買えるわよ？わざわざ東京から運んできて。。』って母親に笑われたよ。」
