My name is Macayela Blackhorse and I am one of the many teachers at Cafe Eikaiwa. I am originally from the United States. Specifically, Seattle, Washington . Washington state is filled with everything you could ask for. Seattle has easy access to the sea, forest, city, and rural areas. There is always something fun to do in Seattle. I often found myself hiking and going to farmers markets. My favorite thing was to go to the farmers market every weekend with my mom. Farmer’s markets were places where people would sell freshly baked goods and handmade items. Every week we would look for the best fruits and vegetables to use for our dinners. My favorite part about the farmer’s market was trying all the freshly baked breads. I would often get Chocolate Babka, a Jewish bread. If you ever get the chance to try Babka bread you should do so right away.

However, the farmer’s market is not the visit thing I would recommend when visiting Washington. If you are interested in nature, I highly suggest you visit the Ape Caves. The Ape Caves is a series of caves that were created from the Mt. Rainier volcanic eruption in 1894. The caves were created by lines of lava that burned through the earth. The reason I suggest visiting this place is due to its beauty and mysticism. Though you cannot see much when you are walking, you still feel the cave’s power. There is an indescribable feeling that overwhelms you when you reach the inside of the cave. It is a calmness like no other. That is why I always suggest people experience it for themselves. That is just one of the many interesting things to try in Washington.

As I speak with more and more students at Cafe Eikaiwa I learn so much about so many different places. There is always something to learn from my students. I find new interests or hobbies when I speak with them. Students at Cafe Eikaiwa are always looking to improve their understanding of the world. It is quite an amazing thing to be part of. That is why I always recommend people to join Cafe Eikaiwa. Both the staff and the students inspire you to become a better version of yourself every day.

Kind regards,
Macayela
