Hi, I’m Caroline. I’m from Cavite, Philippines. It’s an hour (or two) away from Manila. I’d like
to introduce you to my town – Cavite. In our town, you can see and experience riding an
interesting transportation, the “baby bus”. What is a “baby bus” you asked, if you are
familiar with the Philippine jeepneys and the concept of a bus then you are almost there.
Baby buses are larger than a jeepney but smaller than a bus thus called the baby bus. It is
hand-painted with colorful graphics with different themes. They are plastered with names
and catchy phrases in Tagalog, English or sometimes mix of both and - “Taglish”. You can
only see it in Cavite and it’s our trademark!
When you get the chance to visit my town, see and ride a baby bus, don’t forget to visit
Tagaytay City in Cavite. You can gaze from the restaurants around the area the smallest
active volcano in the world, the Mt. Taal. If you are feeling brave, you can hike too. While
enjoying the view, you can also try local delicacies like “Bulalo”, made from beef broth with
beef shanks and marrow with vegetables. It is usually eaten with “Crispy Tawilis”
(freshwater sardines) served with warm rice and coconut drink. These combinations would
not disappoint!
