My name is Nadia! I come from a city called Surabaya, located in East Java, Indonesia. My hometown is the second biggest city in Indonesia. Like many other big cities, we have a lot of malls. In fact, in Surabaya we have the biggest mall in Indonesia, called Pakuwon Mall. Maybe that’s why I grew up loving going out to malls with my family and friends. When I have free time, I always go to the malls to simply window shopping or enjoy the air condition (AC) in Surabaya’s hot weather. Yes, Indonesia is a tropical country, so it’s always summer all year! If you like hot weather, I recommend you go to Indonesia and enjoy the heat.

A lot of people don’t know much about Surabaya since it’s just a business town with a lot of skyscrapers and fewer tourists. Everyone, on the other hand, knows Bali. Most people think Bali Island is a small country, in fact, Bali Island is a part of Indonesia. It has a lot of beautiful beaches and mountains. It is indeed one of the most popular destinations among international tourists. I would recommend you to go to Bali if you like nature, such as beaches, forests, waterfalls, and mountains. We also have a lot of delicious food in Indonesia. Indonesian foods are mostly spicy and savory. One of my favorite dishes is Sate Ayam. Sate Ayam is chicken skewers that are cooked over coals, which I would say similar to Japanese Yakitori. What makes it different, however, is that Sate Ayam usually served with rice cakes (lontong) with sweet peanut sauce poured all over them. You can find sate easily, sold by the street vendors everywhere in Indonesia.

Being premium cafe eikaiwa’s instructor, I always hear many interesting stories from my students. With the conversation-based lesson, I always feel that the sessions as a good way to exchange information about each other’s country and experience. I can learn more about Japanese culture from them, but I am also happy to help them improve their English. Apart from being an instructor, I’m also a student who is currently studying Japanese. I know how hard it is to speak in a foreign language. Nonetheless, understanding a different language means having a different vision of life. It means that when you learn different languages not only you will learn about different words but also different ways of thinking, which may benefit you in your life. So, don’t hesitate to join me in my lessons, and may we have an open mind to learn about new things together.
